LINO CUTTING/PRINTING

Using block printing inks. This technique uses the process of indenting the surface of a Lino’s surface by removing it using lino cutting tools. The indented surface will sink in and the surrounding untouched surface will stay raised. Printing inks are spread over the non‐removed areas on the lino and pressure is applied in order to print the artwork onto the paper. The lino tools consist of blades which attach to handles made of plastic or wood. The blades come in a range of different shapes which achieve different marks on the lino. You print the lino plate using onto paper using the Columbian press. Position the lino ink side down onto the printing paper and place a clean sheet of newsprint on top to keep the work clean. Apply the pressure by pulling the arm of the press four times. Check the outcome finish of the print. Wash the lino, rollers with water and detergent. Leave the lino to complete dry prior to the
next print.
